April showers bring more than May flowers – they bring out the need for your creativity when the playground isn’t an option.
NOVA on PBS came up with this interesting idea for those of us who will be stuck in doors this weekend and are looking for something interesting to do: Use household items to see your own DNA.
Honestly, I didn’t know you could actually see DNA without a microscope, and I certainly didn’t know you could isolate it using just water, salt, rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol, food coloring and clear dish soap.
This is a pretty cool experiment that makes that whole double-helix thing from junior high science class come to life.
Watch the video and give it a try. Then let us know how it worked out!
